     Welcome to the world to Elite BBS.  It didn't took you long before you
     realize you were wasting your time on PD boards right?  Things are
     different now.  You have to watch out for the pheds and for fellow
     users.  Be paranoid, and be careful.  Some users might be undercover
     police agents.  Elite boards are the target for the pheds, if a board
     get busted, YOU might get busted too.  That's why you have to follow
     the seven rules below.  Follow those rules and you'll have a lot of
     fun.

     Ok, this is my second text file.  Hope you'll learn and follow all
     the things I'm about to describe below.  And there is also tips about
     selecting your password and stuff.  Expect more quality text file from
     me in the future.....Ok, here goes:



     1.  The one thing you must NEVER do is to give out your REAL phone
         number when asked.  Remember, in the world of BBS's your REAL phone
         number is your life.  Once somebody founds out, you're dead.
         You'll just have to pray the heck that he won't call you 24 hours a
         day.  And it's a hassle to change phone numbers.

         I know what you're thinking now.  What if that BBS want to voice
         validate you?  Here is what I would do.  Most BBS's will tell you to
         leave a letter to the sysop asking for validation.  If that board
         requires voice validation, tell the sysop that the number you gave
         him/her is phony.  And to call you at (XXX)XXX-XXXX at sometime
         specific time.  This will have to be a public telephone.  Or an
         innocent friends house.  But NEVER your own house!  Or if you're a
         phreak, ask him/her if he/she has a good loop you can use.

         For those that don't require voice validation, don't tell him/her
         that the number is phony.  Never tell somebody more than he/she
         needs to know.  [If you don't know what a loop is don't worry.]

         When choosing a phony number, choose a number that sounds real.
         Don't choose one like [phone].  Go look up the Yellow Pages
         and find a valid prefix.  [A prefix is the first 3 numbers, not the
         area code.  Every city has a different prefix, or most, choose one
         that you like and make up the other 4 numbers.]



     2.  The most important part is over now.  Second thing you must NOT
         leave is your REAL address.  This one is easy because how can a
         sysop check that?  But one thing you have to be careful here is
         that the city and state MUST agree with the phony number.  For
         Example:

         I'm looking at the yellow pages.  Say I choose [phone] as my
         "real" number.  Now the city and state you fill in MUST BE Burbank
         California.  Because it has to agree with the number.  And by the
         way, use the thick one, not the ones for advertising only.  And for
         the street address, just put anything that sounds real.



     3.  Next comes your name and handle.  I recommend that you leave your
         real first name and make up a last name, for those BBS's that
         requires real names only.   As for a handle, choose anything you
         want, doesn't matter.  But always MAKE UP a last name.  Especially
         if your number is listed, and there is only like 5 people with the
         same last name.



     4.  There is also the password.  Be VERY careful about this, this is
         very serious.  Let say that you're a sci-fi fun, and reads the
         great masterpieces by Heinlein, Asimov, and Clark or any other sci-
         fi writer.  Don't choose a PW that relates to your readings!

              NEVER CHOOSE A PASSWORD THAT GOES WITH YOUR INTERESTS!!

                        ALWAYS CHOOSE YOUR OWN PASSWORDS!!

           AND ALWAYS CHOOSE DIFFERENT PASSWORDS FOR DIFFERENT BOARDS!!

         WWIV always produces a "random" PW for you.  Something like 8XZK56.
         It looks random enough right?  WRONG!  The next "random" PW could
         look something like this, 7XZK89.  Don't let your eyes fool you!

         Let give you some tips about selecting PWs.  You can make up PWs
         like 9KJ5I0, or you can choose words like ROLLING.  The 9KJ5I0 is
         almost impossible to remember and you need a different one for every
         board.  Most people will choose words.  They are easier to remember.
         BUT they are also easy to hack.  Choose something like ROLLING45 or
         76ROLLING.  These PWs are almost impossible to guess.

         I would suggest that you keep a little notebook that records the
         name, number, your handle, your number, PW, address, and birthday.
         And update it when you change your PW.  Don't let ANYBODY sees it.



     5.  Now we are through with the application.  All the things described
         above is very important.  Especially if you don't know if the sysop
         is an asshole.  Or one of the Co-sysops or Remote-sysops.  If
         you're a beginner, try not to make a lot of enemies.  You don't know
         the things some people do.  All the hackers that hack BBS accounts
         are sysops, co's, or remote, since there is no way an ordinary user
         could get information about you.  And those hackers are almost
         always lame sysops.  They are afraid, or too stupid, to go after
         a VAX or a Unix, so they fuck around with BBS accounts.

         Remember one thing about "private" E-Mail:  THEY ARE NOT PRIVATE!!
         And they NEVER are.  No matter what the sysop tell you, he/she is
         GOD.  He/she sometimes reads "private" mails.  So don't give
         leave your REAL number or PW to somebody through mail.  And you
         shouldn't to THAT either.  In another words, don't write a love

         letter or anything private through mail.



     6.  Let now advance to something more difficult to deal with.  You call
         your favorite board one night and discovers that you can't get on
         no matter what.  There are two possibilities:

         1.  Your account has been deleted.  This can happen if you haven't
             call within a period of time.   Or you behaved like a big ass,
             posting shit or leeched too much.

         2.  Your account was hacked by a lame and stupid sysop.  This is
             partly YOUR fault for been too lazy to choose a different PW
             for every board.

         What are you going to do now?  Just pray the heck that you didn't
         leave any REAL information like I told you.  If you gave phony
         numbers and address, no need to worry too much.  Just change the PW
         on EVERY board you're on.

         If you left REAL info on that board.  You are in deep shit now.
         VERY deep shit.  The first thing is to change EVERYTHING about you
         on EVERY board.  Give phony info of course.  Then you have to wait
         for strange calls or strange packages.  If you start to get strange
         calls, CHANGE YOU NUMBER AT ONCE.  As for strange packages that you
         didn't order, there is nothing to do but MOVE.

         Ok let me explain something about these packages I'm talking about.
         Once a hacker has your address, he may order stuff through mail to
         be delivered to your house.  And if you use a credit card, you're
         dead.  TRW and CBI sell credit information to businesses.  A hacker
         can get your credit card # and bank account # and everything you
         left when applying for that credit card.  He'll use your credit card
         number to order stuff and deliver it to your house.  The only thing
         you can do now is to call your bank and the police and MOVE if you
         have to.  Dude, call the police only if you can't deal with it
         yourself.  And don't forget to hide all your pirated stuff when the
         pheds come.  Also, make up a believable story.

         I'm not bluffing about this man.  I know people who dealt with this
         before.  Be very careful, especially if you're on elite/hacking
         /phreaking/anarchy boards.  Again, NEVER LEAVE REAL INFO ON ANY
         BOARD!!!  Especially the anarchy boards.



     7.  If you someday find you name, handle, phone #, and address posted
         on a anarchy board, you'll KNOW the dangers of leaving real info.
         Nobody will never know anything about you if you followed my advice.
         If you've followed my rules, just tell that guy to fuck off.  And
         if he is somebody you've never heard off, you might as well ask him
         why is he been such an ass, and how did he get your phoney info.

         All those people that post info about others are lamers, and are
         almost always nobody you know.  Don't misundertand me here.  I don't
         like anybody posting numbers without a clear reason for it.  If he
         guy is phed that busted a hundred boards, I'll call him day and
         night.  But if the poster is just a bored sysop with nothing to do
         then he is an lamer and probably an asshole.

     I think that's all you need to know about the dangers of leaving REAL
     info on boards.  You won't get in trouble if you follow my advice.
     Be careful, and watch out for those cool and rad boards.  Don't be
     tempted to leave any REAL info.  The more elite it is, the more
     dangerous it is.  Big pirate boards get a lot of attention from the
     pheds. Lying is an art, you'll do fine if you know how to lie.

     I'm telling you all this to warn you about the dangers of other
     users, hackers, and the police.   Most of all about the police.  The FBI
     is constantly busting elite/phreaking/hacking boards.  Leaving phony
     info will protect you against any phed attack.  All this bullshit can
     be reduced to one single phrase:


          !!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER LEAVE ANY REAL INFO ON ANY BBS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
